How do you show the number of steps on the Apple Watch Face?

Thank you. I was hoping to be able to see the number of steps on my Apple Watch face without having to click on the 3 rings. I think this would be a very nice addition for many of us that follow our steps during the day. I used to be able to see the number of steps on my former Fitbit face.
