I ordered an Apple Watch with free Apple+ coverage for 7 days. However, those 7 days expire 6 days before I am scheduled to receive the watch. So it is covered for roughly half the trip from China, when I would argue I do not own the watch. This seems very poor marketing (and zero insurance). Of course, the email is from a non-monitored email address and this forum is the suggested place to raise the issue. Really?

Contacting Apple support is not going to help at all; they cannot do anything about the way Apple has decided to offer the 7 day free trial of Applecare and its timing.
I would not worry about it; Apple has an excellent return policy: return it within 14 days for a full refund. Additionally, you are covered by the mfr's warranty.
