Exploding plug

Why did my Apple plug explode? The trip switch blew also. This happened at night & the house could have gone on fire. It blew apart the front from the back.

It was from the phone charger which was plugged in for about 10 minutes only.

Does this mean apple plugs should not be left in at night? How concerned should I be?

This is rare, but not completely unheard of. Certain models of chargers have been issued recalls because of possible problems. In those cases, a free replacement is authorized.

If it was a genuine Apple part, contact them for support - Contact - Official Apple Support

If it was a third-party knockoff, you'll have to settle with them yourself.
