Audio Effect "Ambience" in FCPX question

I have been working on some old PAL SD footage. The sound track is Dual Mono, I stumbled on an effect called "Ambience" see pic below. I really like this effect as the separation & ambience it creates is amazing. Is there any way I can apply this effect on a stereo soundtrack? I am working on 4K material & this effect seems unavailable.

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 10.15

Not unless you change the Audio Configuration from Stereo to Dual Mono:

Thanks for that.

Being that I am using a simple but very nice Sennheisser "stereo" mic on a GoPro 10 is it surprising that it sounds so much better changing it to dual mono & applying the "Ambience" effect?

After all, on camera mics are only a pretence at stereo.

I shoot people talking to camera in a pretty dead room, no music & it seems "wrong" to change it to dual mono. Will I live to regret this idea?
