I tracked my printing problem down to the print dialog box not loading or being missing from the system. Where is this located? Is it possible to restore this from Time Machine without going through a whole system restore?

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
Thanks for the reply. I should have said that I've already tried safe boot with no change. I've also deleted all of the printer .plist files.
Perhaps coincidentally, I noticed that the desktop folder had also been deleted from the system.
Also, this is definitely a system print dialog box problem as the printer works fine when using Firefox's or Adobe Acrobat's own printer dialog.
With Desktop folder missing... did iCloud Drive get turned ON perhaps?
If you feel it's the OS then you can reinstall the OS.
