What is the gray circle around a white open square with white lines?

This symbol seems to highlight any printed tags or things in the photo that have printed words, when you thought the circle, it highlights the print. It cannot be edited out. Why does it appear and how can I make it stop appearing? See in bottom right of the photo I used. Thank you!

It's called Live Text. If you tap on that and then press and hold on the text, you'll get a menu of things you can do with the text. If it's a phone number, you'll have the option to call it. Or you can just copy the text to paste it into a note, email, etc. It's actually a really cool feature.
