Hello CrissJ,

Just to confirm, it seems like the Mac and iPhone are both using the same Apple ID account, is that correct?

You can find the requirements and steps to use Home Sharing here: Use Home Sharing to share media from a computer to other devices

Before you set up Home Sharing

• Update all of your Apple devices to the latest versions of iOSiPadOSmacOS, and tvOS. On your PC, make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes for Windows.
• Connect all of your devices to the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.
• Make sure that all of your devices are signed in with the same Apple ID and authorized to play purchases using that Apple ID.

Take care!

CrissJ,

We appreciate that additional information. Do you have more than one network such as a guest network or router in this location? If so, be sure that every device is connected to the exact same network and try to use Home Sharing once more. Ensure all your devices are fully updated as well.

Update macOS on Mac

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If this continues after following all that, then we would recommend contacting Apple Support to get the best assistance going forward.

No. He is using his own Apple ID for his phone (iPhone 11) but I did set up my Apple ID in the Music app. That didn't work so I tried with his id. Didn't work either way. I have checked "Share media with guests" and thought he would be able to get access that way since we are on the same network. But now, I also get the same message on my iPhone 11 and I am using the same Apple ID on both the mac and my phone. I'm at a loss for where to go from here.
