Purchased MS Office From App Store Does Not Work on MacBook Air

HELP.. I purchased MS Office 365 from the App Store and It does not work. Cannot call Microsoft you have to do the stupid chatting and wait for someone to call you I spoke with someone who could not help me and told me it was an Apple issue so then I requested a call from Apple and after 3 hours with a representative on the phone they had to refund my money. The issue is I need this software for school and I cannot afford to purchase another computer and should not have to. Has anyone experienced this if so how did you resolve it?
