Is this a new issue, or has this always been a risk for iPhones?

I've been using a strong magnetic car mount on an iPhone 11 for a while now and never noticed any camera problems. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 13 (Pro, if that matters). Anyone happen to know if the problems described in this article are "general purpose" - or is the newer iPhone with its fancier camera electronics at a greater risk than previous models?

Greetings HankRearden22,

Based on the article you are referencing, Magnetic accessories might interfere with iPhone cameras, it is talking about OIS and closed-loop AF. In the footnotes, it is stated that closed-loop AF is available on iPhone XS and later, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). Your iPhone 11 would fall in to the category of having closed-loop AF. It sounds there was the possibility for magnetic interference. You mentioned having not noticed an issue and that’s great.

Thanks.
