Overwriting a file with the same name requires that you have a Powerpoint file backup on either iCloud Drive, Microsoft's One Drive, or Apple's Time Machine (external backup drive). If you cannot find an older version of your Powerpoint file on these media choices, then your option to recover approaches none.
What BobTheFisherman says about iCloud not being a backup solution.
Apple's iCloud has a floating 30-day feature where if you actually delete a file, you can recover it¹. You overwrote it, which is not deletion, so this recovery feature probably won't benefit you.
¹ Sign into iCloud, and go to the Account Settings page. In the lower left, there will be an Advanced section and a Restore Files link.

Thanks. I do use the iCloud backup function but must be doing something wrong as there are no files there. I’ll keep digging.
iCloud is not a computer backup scheme. Time Machine is used to back up a computer.
