Apple Watch “unpaired”
So, a little bit of background (short version): my iPhone was paired and working wonderfully with my Apple Watch; however, my iPhone was subject to a remote wipe where it was completely erased. Alas, I didn’t have a backup that was even remotely recent, so I had to set it up as “new.” Needless to say, I lost a LOT of data and learned another tech lesson the hard way. My Apple Watch was not subjected to the same remote wipe, and still had my contacts, a few pictures, and text messages on it, but it was no longer paired to my phone.
When I go into the Watch app on my phone, it’s as if nothing is paired. Am I:
- Able to transfer the data from my watch to a computer or the iPhone;
- Able to re-pair the watch to my iPhone without having to wipe it, too?
I don’t think this is possible, but it’s worth an ask. Also, be sure to back up often, and validate it is doing so - companies can/will/do remote wipe devices when you have email or messaging apps on your phone. Be careful, and be wary.
