Books app is exhibiting multiple errors in new or read categories

Lately I have been experiencing major problems with Books. Sorting by recent gives unexpected results with older books going to the top. My read books keep disappearing from the "read" category, and are labeled as "New". They also disappear from the Read Library, with up to 150 books disappearing from the "Read List". I also lose the book I am currently reading, and have to search my entire library because the search function doesn't do it's job. This occurs on my Mac (macOS 12.4) and my iPhone (iOS 15.5).

I am unsure if there is a limit on the number of books the program can handle. My current library is 10,529 books. I have lots of free space on my Mac, iPhone, and iCloud, so this should not be a problem. Is it possible this is a factor?
