iPad will not copy and paste

hi.

i was trying to copy and paste a chat message from what's app. it doesnt allow me to do so. i can reply messages by swiping it to the right. or i can click on hyperlink. i wonder what happen to it.

my old iphone can do it just fine.

please help me.
