External damage to your iPhone in the camera area can affect your ability to use FaceID. If it is cracked, I suggest you use the Contact Support link on the top of the page here to start a service request. Or, if you have an Apple Store close by, you can make a Genius Bar appointment to have Apple examine the device and explain your options.
