How to stop an app from accessing the internet

Major computer issues caused by GoDaddy this week. I have had to download Edison to get copies of my work emails. Thing is, I need to do a couple of things and thought if I could do one, I could check.

  • how do I stop Edison Mail app from accessing the internet
  • how do I make sure I have downloaded copies of my emails, not just whilst connected to the internet
  • anyone know how to see how many emails have been emailed on Edison? I have over 9000 emails... laws state I need to keep copies for 7 years...

Thanks in advance for help with this, greatly appreciated.

For your main question, how to stop an app from connecting to the internet you can do one of two things.

  1. Disable your internet connection
  2. Use an app like Little Snitch which is a firewall that will allow you to control what goes in and out of your computer.

For your Edison questions, you might be better of asking their support team. A way you could check if your mails are on your computer is to disconnect from the internet and see if you can see the body and attachments of mail. This is not a great way though. Mail clients usually have a setting to download all mails locally.
