Do I need the invoice to claim warranty

I bought a Macbook Air online last month. Now I'd like to sell it to someone else.

The sales invoice has my name on it. Does the new owner need an invoice with this name (so I transfer the ownership to him) for warranty purposes? Or Apple only checks serial number for eligibility for warranty?

Thanks

Based on the warranty document:

Legal - Mac Warranty Us - Apple

Which states this:

WHAT IS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY?

Apple Inc. of One Apple Park Way, Cupertino, California 95014, U.S.A. (“Apple”) warrants the Apple-branded hardware product and Apple-branded accessories contained in the original packaging (“Apple Product”) against defects in materials and workmanship when used normally in accordance with Apple's published guidelines for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase by the end-user purchaser ("Warranty Period").

It appears the basic warranty is not transferable. You may need to contact Apple legal to see if this statement really only applies to the original purchaser. However, the statement seems to imply such.

Generally, most electronic device warranties are not transferable.

However, if you have AppleCare+ coverage, it is transferable:

It may depend on the region and even the AASP. Typically Apple will use the information contained online to verify warranty (at least in the US), but if that information is incorrect, then proof of purchase is required. Usually if the actual purchase information is not online, then Apple uses the manufacture date of the product for determining warranty coverage (at least in the US). Local consumer law may also affect these things as well.

Keep in mind Apple or an AASP will always have the final say in what will be covered or not covered in any given situation.
