Keep getting self assigned IP on ethernet connection
I am using Xfinity modem/router and a Netgear splitter to create an ethernet connection in my home office. Wifi works fine, but I get better speed and more stable connection with ethernet. However, while everything worked fine a few weeks ago, now that I have returned from an extended business trip, I am getting this "self assigned IP" error message that won't let me connect. I can still connect through wifi. I have tried rebooting everything and following various instructions on resetting, including setting up a new profile and deleting certain files from the network preferences, but nothing is working.
