Time Machine QNAP
How do erase everything on QNAP time machine backup? Can I just delete the backup folders ? Something tells me it's just not that simple.

That's the old TM system. You may have to erase the drive and reformat APFS - case sensitive in order for it to be used by TM for backups. You won't be able to use it for anything but TM.
Make sure your drive meets these requirements which are more stringent with Monterey: Types of disks you can use with Time Machine on Mac
With earlier Time Machines trying to delete a sparse bundle or a file would lock up the Trash bin and force the user to erase and reformat the drive so you might just as well erase and reformat the drive as APFS (Case-Sensitive).
Note: I don't use NAS so have no first hand experience with TM on a NAS.
Please read the following user tip and restate your question/problem in detail:

Have you been using the QNAP currently for Time Machine?
What do you want to erase it?
What Mac model, year and system are you running?
Post a screenshot of what you're seeing in the TM drive. Since Monetary it looks like this:
I have been using QNAP for time machine for two macbook pros and a mac mini. 2019, 2020, and 2022 models, respectively.
I want to erase it because the backups have stopped connecting.
Time machine stopped backing up after all devices were upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey. Error message says "Time machine couldn't complete the the backup to "xxxxxx.local". The backup image could not be created."
Could it be new file system required (AFS?)
The screenshot above does not resemble mine.
It simply looks like this....
Use Disk Utility to erase the drive and reformat it.
thanks - but I am not using HBS3 for backups -- just file station... interested to hear pros/cons though...

OK -- so just delete the sparsebundles?
Thanks. I have raised this with QNAP support. Creating an entirely new folder under previous directions not seeming to work on the NAS
