Macbook Air 2020 Monterey 12.4 gives me 100% charged notification every few seconds

I saw one thread on this, but there was no solution there, so I am starting a new one.

I have a new charger for my laptop. Every time the computer goes into sleep mode, it beeps and gives a notification that the computer is 100% charged every few seconds. It is as though I keep unplugging and plugging in the charger. It happens with both ports.

I rebooted the computer in safe mode, where the problem did not occur. When I went back to normal, the problem resumed. I can't think of anything I downloaded to my computer recently. The only change is the new charger. Perhaps its circuitry is flawed?

Any other thoughts?
