Menu Bar Sound Icon is not updated when volume is changed via keyboard shortcut

Menu Bar Sound Icon is not updated when volume is changed via keyboard shortcut

macOS Monterey 12.4 (iMac 2021):

Press Fn + F10 / F11 / F12. Check the sound icon in the menu bar. Observed: Menu bar sound icon isn't changed even if sound is muted. Expected: Menu bar sound icon should reflect actual volume level.

Who else is experiencing such issue?

iMac 24″, macOS 12.4

Much like @dialabrain has mentioned, do not use this specific Application.

Therefore, not really in any good position to comment directly on the Application itself.

The Developers does specifically mention Apple Silicon computer are supported.

Outside of the following several Trouble Shooting steps, would communicate with the Developers for a Monterey 12.4 or even a Beta Version of their Software for Monterey.

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

4 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

5 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

Two option exist in my Tool Box. This is the Best I can offer.

1 - Communicate with the Developer after all - it is their Software to Support

2 - Pursue this here involving the below. Once that is exhausted, not much more I can offer to be honest >>

Understand, we are all working Remotely from all around the world.

Therefore, we do not have the On-Hands experience the User ( you ) has with this computer.

The next best thing for us to having an actual On-Hand experience  with this computer is to follow the steps below

Download the Application Etrecheck directly from a well Respected ASC Contributor. And Safe to use.

The application is free or paid from added features.

Run the application with Full Disc Access ( Security & Privacy - Full Disc Access ).

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

The Report will Not Reveal Any Personal Information.

Post back the Full Report - copy and paste - using the Additional Text Icon ( 3rd Icon to last )

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

After major macOS update eqMac doesn't work correctly anymore?

This can happen sometimes and unfortunately it outside of our control.

If you happen to run into issues after an upgrade, please try reinstalling eqMac by downloading it from this website.

If this doesn't help please try restarting CoreAudio service by running this command in Terminal.app:

sudo killall coreaudiod
