Yahoo Mail login

OSX 10.11.6. Can't login to Yahoo/ATT mail... AGAIN . . last time I had trouble accessing this account through the Apple Mail app I deleted the account, added it back, and it worked fine. Until it didn't. Now when I try to do it, it tells me "Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue. CARE CODE: 205.2 [LU003]" Doesn't matter how many days I wait to try again.. But I know my ID and password and via the Yahoo server it works fine. And my Gmail account works fine on the app.. ??? Thanks!

Yahoo Mail IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com.
IMAP port: 993.
IMAP TLS/SSL: yes.
IMAP username: Your full Yahoo Mail address.
IMAP password: Your Yahoo Mail password or app password.
Yahoo Mail SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
SMTP port: 465 (try 587 as an alternative)

Use "Other" account settings with IMAP. The pre-mapped Yahoo settings in Internet Settings no longer work.

Especially on older versions of Mac OS this is the case, since those are no longer updated.

Use the IMAP settings for Yahoo. Don't try the custom Yahoo email configuration which is woefully outdated.

Thank you but I don't know what that means. I have been setting it up via the "Internet Accounts" tab in System Preferences. It always worked before. If there's a better way, I would be grateful for specific instructions.

Sincere thanks for your followup. I tried doing what you say here, but maybe I'm doing something wrong cuz this is new to me. "Add a Mail account", entered my email address and Yahoo password, it just spins and spins and . . . nothing happens. Eventually I get a window that says "Unable to verify account name or password", but it's otherwise configured for incoming: imap.mail.att.net, outgoing: smtp.mail.att.net. I tried logging in again from this screen, same non-result. It still created an account, I tried entering the password on that screen, it just deletes it and doesn't do anything. ??
