AirPods for an old guy?
Why should I buy AirPods? I never listen to music. I'm hard of hearing and use my iMac a lot. My daughter thinks I need AirPods. Do I? I'm 90 years old.

Music does interest me, and I use AirPods for that. But additionally, I use them when I’m in a room with my spouse and I want to listen to something privately. I don’t personally have a hearing issue, but I imagine they would help regarding focusing sound, along with Johnathan Burger’s comments.
Thanks for your reply, but money is not an issue. My concern is that I may not have enough uses for them considering my age, and that music does not interest me. Can you enumerate the uses you put yours to? My daughter says that the AirPods will help my hearing...how?

AirPods are a luxury, not a necessity. Purchase them if you like. I have a set and am glad I do.
