It's taking way to much time to upload photos from Mac to Icloud Photos.

I have 5.58 GB photos and videos to upload, but it does it so slow, for like 10 hours nothing really happens. I have a good internet connection 500 Megabits up/down load (and about 100 Megabits up/down load over Wi-fi) What is wrong? Maybe because of my internet provider, which has a bad connections with Icloud servers or what ever, I don't know. My Mac - Macbook air 2018 A1932, MacOS 12.4

Hi

Syncing with iCloud is slow, and not limited by your internet connection speed. My 5GB library took 48 hours full time. It is normal for the status indicator to not update for long periods of time.

Leave the mac on, connected to power, with the photos app open, and sleep disabled.

iCloud Photos has to merge the photos you upload to iCloud into your iCloud Photos Library. Each photo or video you upload has to be compared to the photos already in iCloud and conflicts between differently edited versions of the same photos have to be solved. It may take several days, even for a very small library as it will depend on how busy Apple's cloud servers are.

while you are waiting, you may want to check, if your all your videos and photos are compatible with iCloud. Are your videos all in the HEVC or H.264 format? Older videos in a different format may be causing the upload to hang, also incompatible photos, for example PDF files.
