I need to disable a shortcut but I don't know how

Hello, so I've got my MacBook pro hooked up to an Apple Studio Display and while trying out different keyboard shortcuts (on an Apple Magic Keyboard) to control brightness, I've learned that pressing Option-Command-F1/Lower Brightness, changes the Built In Retina display "use as" setting to mirror for Studio Display and then back. Would love some advice on getting that disabled, thank you!

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.4

I tried but could not find a way to disable this.

I understand that if you always use your display in extended mode and do not need to mirror, you have no need for the shortcut, but... why disable it when you can just not use it? Are you finding that you click it too often accidentally?

FWIW, here are the effects of pressing these keys:

F1 or F2 by themselves - changes brightness of the internal display

Option-F1 or Option-F2 - summons the Display pane of System Preferences

Command-F1 - toggles between extended desktop and mirrored displays.

So if you accidentally press Command-F1, just press it again to toggle back.

I don't have a Studio Display to experiment with, but I do have an external display.

I downloaded Monitor Control and can change brightness on both displays simultaneously with just the regular F1 and F2, without modifiers, by setting the relevant preference in the application.

By the way, thank you for letting me know about this application. It looks really nice.

Hey Luis thanks for the extra shortcuts, I like the summoning of display pane one! Currently, as far as I know, you can't change the brightness of the Apple Studio Display and MacBook Pro at the same time using the brightness keys. They only change the active screen's brightness, which isn't very efficient all the time.

So the reason is that I want to map it to to this app I use called Monitor Control which will allow me to change the brightness of both screens using this shortcut!

No problems! The app is really cool, isn't it! I've got that setting on as well, but now I need to use the menubar utility/control center to individually change the brightness. Was trying to keep it keyboard only but yeah, I might try reaching out to the YouTube who claimed he was using the keyboard shortcut to change both and see if he can tell me how to "fix" the display view toggle keyboard shortcut

Hello

To disable a keyboard shortcut, follow the steps below from the article Use macOS keyboard shortcuts.

Disable a keyboard shortcut
Sometimes an app’s keyboard shortcut conflicts with a macOS keyboard shortcut. If this happens, you can disable the macOS keyboard shortcut.
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Keyboard , then click Shortcuts.
2. In the list on the left, select a category, such as Mission Control or Spotlight.
3. In the list on the right, deselect the checkbox next to the shortcut that you want to disable.
