Disabled iphone? Repair

Okay so I bought this used iPhone from a friend and I am assuming it has been factory reset because I'm at the very beginning of this process where once the iPhone is charged it says disabled slide to the right as I do that it wants a passcode right away and it's flashing the countries or the language and read above the passcode it's been a few years since I had an iPhone and I do remember this being the first few steps however I think if my memory is correct I have to still have the original Apple ID and or passcode I also remember something about plugging it into the computer once I have my Apple ID account created and I'm locked into iTunes and it's downloaded please help me enable my disabled iPhone.

When you turned it on, you should have been presented with the Hello screen. If you saw disabled, then your friend didn't set it up correctly. Have him look here -
