The only moving part in a MacBook Air is its exhaust fan. Apple Diagnostics will exercise it, and perhaps you can correlate that noise with what you are hearing:


Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support


The exhaust fan may be contaminated with dust, resulting in that noise. If you think that is the cause, dust or other contaminants should only be removed by an authorized Apple repair facility. Click Get Support to find one.
