Apple 4 watch open swim

No matter what I do the Apple4 watch in open swim does not accurately track on map or give correct distance during or after the swim. Yet walking on the road which runs parallel to the beach and using outdoor walk it is accurate.

I have reset the watch a dozen times, did not use a backup when syncing the watch with my phone.

Yet, when I use a third party app everything works perfectly.
