Recently when selecting Play Sound on any of my devices on the Find My app, the selected device will ring for only a few seconds (6 rings total), then completely stop ringing. I need to keep selecting Play Sound on another device to find the selected device. It is happening to all my devices and when using any of my devices to locate a selected device.
Has anyone else noticed this?

This is to be expected when trying to use the audio to find the phone. You'll just need to tap the option again to allow the chime to start again. If this is something you'd like to see differently in the future we'd encourage you to leave feedback here: Product Feedback

As a habitual user of the FindMy Play Sound feature for several years “This is to be expected” is not a historically accurate reply. Up until the past few weeks the Find My sound played for at least two minutes. All the Apple Find My device instructions online say it will play for two minutes. It no longer plays for two minutes on any of my devices either. It plays only 6 times … not long enough to find which room or cushion my phone is under. Anyone else have a suggestion? Do we need to contact Apple directly or regress to pushing “play sound” repeatedly. There is definitely a change which Apple is not talking about.
I’m pleased to report that as of today the Play Sound feature in the Find My App has returned to its traditional method of ringing for an extended period instead of the recent six time limit. There must have been a temporary programming glitch. I found my device within the first ten rings! :0)
