Photos are missing I know I took

On a recent trip both the wife and I took photos and video that are just missing. Not saved on our phones or in the cloud. Then this weekend my daughter took some photos and they are missing.

Hi Joe,

Was this all done with the same iPhone or does your daughter has her own iPhone?

Did you check if there is free space on your iPhone?

Is the iCloud full or do you have space available?

As soon as you take a new photo it will. be shown in the lower left corner of the camera window.

Please take a few photos and see if they will be shown in the lower left corner.

Can you see these photos in the Photos App?

That is strange, 2 iPhones loosing photos from the same days.

Are only photos from this one day lost from your wife's and your iPhone, what is with the days / weeks before and after?

What if you take now a few photos, will they also disappear or will they stay and be uploaded to iCloud?

Did you check Recently Deleted folder on all phones, maybe they are just deleted and moved to this folder.

They should stay there for 30 days.

It happened on 3 different phones. We lost about a day of photos. My wife and I were on a boat so no service. We took a lot of photos and videos. I know we reviewed some of them while on the boat. When we got back my wife posted some to Facebook. All the photos for about a day after that boat trip are missing. Both phones have plenty space iCloud as well has plenty space. Now about a week later my daughter and I were standing next to each other. We both took the same subject matter and her pictures did not save to the phone either.

Super strange. Yes I checked recently deleted on both phones. When my daughter had a bunch as well from a different trip I figured it may be a known issue. When we called Apple they just said if they are gone they are gone. Another word thing, every night both our phones were on a charger over night and on WiFi.
