Waiting for activation

I’m connecting to a new iPhone and all I did on my end was insert my own SIM card from my other iPhone and sign in/activate the phone with my Apple ID. I’m trying to activate my phone number as another address under phone, messages, and FaceTime in settings but all day long it shows it’s loading and says “waiting for activation” but never does. Going on 2 days now without using my phone. What should I do?

iPhone X, iOS 15

Hey Alyssalopez67,

We'd be happy to help out. It sounds like you're having issues activating your phone number for use with iMessage and FaceTime.

To clarify, are you able to send and receive SMS messages on your iPhone? If not, you'd want to get in contact with your wireless carrier, as SMS is required in order to complete iMessage and FaceTime activation.

For more help with this behavior though, also review: If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

If you can't even get your iPhone activated for use with cellular data though, check out the steps here first: If you can't activate your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular) - Apple Support

We hope this information helps out.

Take care!

Hello Alyssa

I've also been experiencing issues with iMessage activation and FaceTime activation. On your iPhone Go to Settings->Tap your name-> Tap Name, Phone Numbers, Email. See if your number is under "Reachable At", if not Tap Edit and Tap Add Email or Phone Number. Go Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive -> Tap you phone number. That should do the trick and you should receive iMessages.
