I reported this to Apple. Let's see what happens. BTW, just like you, Mail works just fine on my mobile devices.
For me, mail is slow when I attempt to search mailboxes for a particular sender. This used to be very fast before upgrading to Monterey. The Privacy change suggestion made above did not help in any way.
Hey otsu!
Can you say if this happens for one, or all accounts within the Mail application?
I’d cut to the chase, but think it’s important, especially for this issue, to test in a new user account, in Safe Mode, and even on another network, (If able to, and even if other devices work fine on the same network).
If it’s only slow to load for one account over another, this would be a different solution.

Appreciate any input on that!
I thought it was resolved after the Privacy setting change, but I found the problem still persists sporadically. When happens, I need to restart the app to show contents.
I am still have problems also. The suggested solution does not help on my machine.
For me it's on all accounts and all machines (laptops, desktop). Everything coming through Apple mail.
It happens on all accounts but only with my iMac desktop. My iPhone has no problem, so does my MacBook Air.
Even Apple Support was unable to solve this problem. They suggested that it was associated with the large volume of junk being downloaded onto the application, but the problem occurred this morning even whan nothing was moving into the application.
In my case it seems to be an iMac issue not an IOS one.
Thanks otsu!
Heirin had mentioned the same happening on several computers, as for you, this is only happening with the iMac?
If this is the case, were you able to try the steps I had mentioned?
Safe Mode
Fresh new admin user
Another network (even if other devices work fine on the same network).
Thanks. It may take a little time to see, but these would be necessary steps to find the culprit, (Rather than just erasing your Mac to factory settings, when even that might not fix it), so those tests are important.
It seems to solve the problem. Thank you! Hope this inconvenience will be fixed in a future update.
This did nothing
Upgrade to Monterey 12.5.1 seems to have addressed the problem
Good to hear! Thanks for letting everyone know!
I was wrong. It is not fixed.
