How to delete photos on my ipad without deleting photos on my iphone and Mac Pro?

> Just turn off iCloud Photos on your iPad

> Since you're iPad is on iOS 9, just go to Settings > iCloud > Photos > Toggle Off

> After doing that, you can delete the photos from your iPad

> Just a reminder though that if you do this, the photos from your iPad will also no longer show up on your other devices like your iPhone and Mac, and your photos from other devices will also no longer show up to your devices since they are no longer syncing

You could reduce the size of your photos.

Manage your photo and video storage - Apple Support

Get started with iCloud Photos:

  1. Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos.
  2. Turn on iCloud Photos.
  3. Select Optimize iPhone Storage to save space on your device.

I can not say if you have this already activated and how much space it will give you.

Or you could switch off iCloud for photos on your iPad.

Change your iCloud settings - Apple Support

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Go to Settings > your name.
  2. Tap iCloud.
  3. Tap to choose which apps you want to use iCloud. In your case photos.

I assume that you'd like to have the rest of iCloud functions, you can deactivate all apps that you don't need / want.

After iCloud sync for photos is switched off you could delete photos from your iPad.

Please test if the sync is really switched off before you delete all photos, start with deleting a few test photos and see if they stay on the other devices.

Do you have a backup of all your photos / data?

Are you using iCloud on all your devices?

  • If YES, then you can not do this. iCloud is designed to keep all devices at the same photos / data on all your devices.
  • If NO, it can be done.

Please read this:

Introduction to iCloud - Apple Support

All your information, always up to date

When you use iCloud, you can access your photos, files, passwords, and other data on any device you choose. Because your data is stored in the cloud and not on a single device, it stays up to date everywhere.

For example, if you turn on iCloud Photos on your iPhone and Mac, you see the same photos on both devices. And if you take a new photo or delete one from the Photos app on your iPhone, those changes appear in Photos on your Mac.
