It just occurred to me. You may be under the impression that the battery on a MacBook Pro is removable. It's not designed to be easily removed removed. It's often glued in and takes special tools to get it out. It's not like swapping batteries in a flashlight/torch.

But then the same can be said of the iPhone and iPad. Are you believing you should take their batteries out of them to travel? After all, in your pocket or the cargo bay, they all get transported. They all initially got shipped to either you or the Apple store with batteries in place.

You're dealing with a shipping company that either doesn't know what they're doing or their lawyers are feeding them bad information.

Millions of computers/devices are shipped to purchasers or carried abroad by travelers every day without the batteries being removed. Many modern devices can not have the battery removed. Thousands of computers/devices are shipped to Apple for repair/trade in every day with the batteries installed. If some shipping company is saying you have to remove the battery, find another shipper that knows how modern technology works.

I’ve been researching shipping my 14” MacBook Pro (2022) from London to California, been reading (plus had confirmed by shipping company) that the Lithium battery needs to be removed from the lap top (but can be shipped together in the same box) in order to ship internationally.

is there something I am missing?

I am very reluctance to remove the battery..

The idea that you are willing to allow your MacBook Pro to leave your sight, even for a moment, and consign it to a shipper, suggests you have a less than typical attachment to THIS specific device. Most MacBook Pro users would INSIST on carrying their MacBook Pro with them at all times, and especially on a long airplane flight.

Please bear with me while I make a radical suggestion:

With less than usual attachment to this device, it may be a more judicious choice to SELL this device, and use this as an excuse to buy a new one once you are settled in the US. If this is only a brief visit, just leave the device at home.
