Bluetooth constantly disconnects/reconnects when pressing PLAY on any bluetooth headphone or speaker

Hi all,

I have iPhone6s running iOS 15.5. Absolutely perfect performance for three years.

Suddenly, when I pair my bluetooth headphones or Alexa speaker I get a valid connection until I press play in different apps such as Podcast and Napster.

Once I hit play, the sprocket spins then the headphones or speaker announce that my phone has disconnected from the device, then 10 seconds later - reconnects automatically. Then if I hit play, I get same behavior.

Upon research I have done the following:

Unpaired/Paired devices

Reset device

Reset to factory settings on iphone and reinstalled from iCloud backup.

--> still have the same problem.

Running from my iPad, I am able to successfully connect to the devices and play podcasts and music - so I am pretty sure I have it isolated to the 6s.

Looking for any/all suggestions.

Thank you!

Hi Irish1445,

Welcome to the Apple Community

Seems this could be caused by wireless interference:

Eg: from power lines, transformers, radio or television. transmitters, or other electronic devices

I tried the suggestions in the link and made a discovery. If I put my iPhone 6s physically right on the bluetooth speaker, it works! However if I start to lift the phone away, the audio stops, but the phone continues to think it is connected - followed by a disconnect tone and a reconnect tone from the speaker. I was also able to duplicate this with the bluetooth headphones. If I put the headphones right on the phone, it works. Any thoughts on what to try next?

Thank you for trying the suggestions, and for your reply, Irish1445..

Sorry I haven't been able to come up with anything in particular to try next.

Hopefully, someone with more expertise in this area may choose to add their thoughts.
