my brand new iPhone 12 wont activate. It’s been almost 3 hours and I cannot make or receive calls and messages are iffy. What is the problem?

Did you put a SIM card in it, or contact your carrier to enable an eSIM?

its a phone from my carrier. Straight from the box. They said Apple is going slow with activations but I’ve never had this issue

I don’t see any problem reports in Apple Status→Apple - Support - System Status
