Running Monterrey 12. 4 and have already run Diskaid and attempted to scroll through Messages in safe mode- neither worked. Is there a setting that I'm missing to allow me to either cursor through messages using the up / down arrow keys or find a scroll bar to go up / down through the senders list and / or messages from a sender? Really irritating.

You should be able to scroll with the mouse gesture or the scroll bar. Are both missing?
Is this new or old? if new, what might have precipitated it?
Have you restarted recently? If not, try that.
LOL- operator error! 2-finger scrolling with track pad works.
