So, you have a friend with the same OS, and the same device, and it works. So why do you think it is a bug?

It stands to reason that there must be something different in your setup that is causing the problem.

macOS 10.12 was released in 2016 and Big Sur was released in 2020.

There have been a lot of macOS version changes since Sierra 10.12 support 32 bit application and Big Sur 11.6.7 supporting only 64 Bit Anything and including the Sealed and Read Only Volume starting in Big Sur and above
