You've selected a screensaver and how before the screensaver turns on?
You can also use hot corners, to program one of the corners to have your screen go dark immediately simply by using either the trackpad or a mouse if you use one by dragging the pointer past the edge of the corner.

You've tried a simple restart? You've updated to MacOS 12.4?
Yup, it's on - this problem just started a few days ago; I'm afraid there's some program or app that's keeping it lit but I can't figure out what.
Do you have antivirus, 3rd party VPN or other tracking software installed on your Mac? If you do, they can create all sorts of issues and should be removed.
