iOS swype keyboard won’t recognize “abortion” as a word

So for REASONS people are typing abortion a lot lately. But the swype and autocorrect won’t recognize the word ABORTION. What the duck, Apple?

I don't use swipe texting, but gave it a whirl.. can't get it either. interestingly enough, it won't show up if you misspell it typing normally (not swiping) either. (type abortien for example, no suggestions).. not even on my MacBook.. type abortio and typically it would show up as a suggestion, nothing.

So I don't think it has anything to do with swipe texting, it's like it's not in the dictionary their predictive text uses..

I also do not think it's a conspiracy, just a glitch of some sort. It doesn't show the word as misspelled if you spell it correctly.

In the meantime, I tested by going to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement, tap the + in the upper right, type in abortion to the 'phrase' field, press Save.. now you can at least get it suggested. You'll have to try swipe texting and see if it helps in that case, I can't swipe text to save my life.

Thanks for your answers. I think I reacted too quickly when the word wasn’t showing up. After manually typing it in a few times the system picked it up. I think this might have a hidden use in that it doesn’t prompt users with the word ‘abortion’ if they weren’t trying to type that, as it could be jarring to see or would be a difficult conversation to have if a child using an iOS device stumbled across it.

Word Not Working:

HMM. What happens when you try your builtin keyboard? If no issues, then I'd say it's got something to with learned text corrections. Likely, you've been making lots of changes, and the iPad has added learned this as commonly-deleted work.
