Apple Health and Google Fit

I need for Apple Health to push data to Google Fit. Here's the order in which things need to happen:

  1. Fitness device (a cheap-o think I got from Walmart) measures my steps and pushes data to the App called FitPro.
  2. FitPro pushes data to Health
  3. Health pushes data to Google Fit
  4. Google Fit pushes data to my health insurance's app so that I can earn credit for my steps.

I've followed all of the instructions, and Health is RECEIVING data from Google Fit, but it's not pushing data TO Google Fit. Also, Health is receiving data from my fitness device's app, and adding that to what's coming from FitPro, so steps are being duplicated. I don't know where Google Fit is getting steps. It seems to be measuring steps if I'm carrying the phone when walking.

Hi Sharon Kerr,

You may want to turn off the duplicated information that's synced with the steps found in the article here Manage Health data on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch and quoted below.

"Find apps that are compatible with Health

  1. Open the Health app and tap the Browse tab.
  2. Tap a category, like Heart.
  3. Tap a subcategory, like Heart Rate.
  4. Scroll down to the apps recommended for that category, then tap an app to learn about and download it.
  5. Go back to your privacy settings in the Health app to allow that app to read or write data in the Health app

You decide what information goes into the Health app and which apps can get your information from Health. Apps that access HealthKit must have a privacy policy. Review an app's privacy policy before allowing access to your health and fitness information."

You can also manage what apps and devices share health data with the section "Share health and fitness data with apps and devices" here: Share your data in Health on iPhone

The guide page here also has some helpful information. Automatically collect data in Health on iPhone

There's also a Google Support page here that may help: Connect other apps with Google Fit
