Touch ID issue on Mac

my touch id sensor does not sense when a finger is touching it, I already tried the above suggestions. when I try to add a new fingerprint, it takes me to the normal screen with the finger that turns red as it processes, but the button does nothing when I put my finger on it. It seems to not be able to tell when a finger is on it?

Hello, lh222.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

If you've done all the steps from this article: If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac - Apple Support, then the next best step is to contact Apple Support or bring the MacBook Pro into a service center for further inspection of the Touch ID. You can find a nearby Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider here depending on your current region: Find Locations

Cheers!
