Creating a Raspberry PI image using disk utility

I need to backup a Raspberry PI SD card. I would prefer not to have to use windows. I have multiple of SD card flashers for mac and Disk utility used to create an image to flash. Now it only sees a small portion of the card (104 Mb or 16 Gb card. Surly there is a app or a fix to Disk utility to create an image of the PI SD Card for backup.
