High Sierra SMTP Server list cannot be cleared

I am just reusing the old title. For me this problem still persists in Monterey.

Even if I delete the hidden ".accountsync" items in the iCloud Keychain,

the deleted SMTP servers come back, once I turn on the Keychain Sync.

Could be a timestamp/timezone Problem - my guess is, that I have to delete

them on the right computer to avoid them coming back again.

(I had a similar problem with stale internet account setting being synced back into

life after a delete).

For problem accounts the go to way to sort things out is to delete the account, then add it back.

Note—

• IMAP accounts stay on the server, so no local loss, when you re-sync

• POP accounts download and remove from the server—therefor save your inbox/sent box if you want them

• "On My Mac" is just that, local folders you created and moved mail into. So no loss

The current stable release of Monterey including bug fixes, is macOS 12.4

Well, if the problematic mail server configurations exit on other Apple Devices under your ownership - time to clean them too - no ?

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

4 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

5 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

Download the Application Etrecheck directly from a well Respected ASC Contributor. And Safe to use.

The application is free or paid from added features.

Run the application with Full Disc Access ( Security & Privacy - Full Disc Access ).

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

Sorry if I did not explain the problem better - I was just referring to an old thread.

High Sierra SMTP Server list cannot be cl… - Apple Community

The problem still persists in Monterey.

The solution proposed by "Robb Allan" works partially - as soon as the keychain sync is activated again, the deleted entries are synced back in.

This looks very much like an unfixed bug by Apple.
