When trying to wipe my MacBook Air, I first got an error code -2100 F. Now that code is gone and all I get is the universal stop sign, a circle with a single diagonal bar across it, white on a black screen. Any ideas?

It sounds like you likely have two problems here. It appears you are likely not able to boot the laptop normally (the circle with line through it). The "-2100f" error when booting into Internet Recovery Mode (Command + Option + R for Intel Macs only) means there is some sort of network issue either with your home network, or your ISP or the Internet.

Try booting the laptop with Internet Recovery Mode (Command + Option + R for Intel Macs only) while connecting the laptop directly to the router using an Ethernet cable for a faster more reliable connection and to bypass any hard to troubleshoot WiFi issues. You can try power cycling your router as well making sure to wait at least five minutes for the router to finish booting.

If you have a 2018+ Mac, then you can also try "Restoring" the system firmware using the instructions in this Apple article (requires access to another Mac running macOS 10.15+):

Revive or restore an Intel-based Mac using Apple Configurator - Apple Support

Revive or restore a Mac with Apple silicon using Apple Configurator - Apple Support

While those instructions mention the OS being reinstalled through Internet Recovery Mode, I think the process may just push the OS onto the SSD instead of actually utilizing Internet Recovery Mode like how it is done with iPhones/iPads, but I haven't paid close attention to the process to know for sure especially since Apple doesn't give a lot of feedback during the process.

If you have a 2017 and earlier Mac along with access to another compatible Mac, then you can try creating a bootable macOS USB installer using the instructions in this Apple article:

How to create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

You should always include the exact model of your Mac along with the OS last used when asking for assistance on these forums so we can provide more direct detailed suggestions instead of generic suggestions. You can get the exact model of the Mac by entering your system serial number here:
