Apple TV app won't let me view local library results

Apple in their infinite wisdom, or greed, has decided to default all search results in the TV app to show products from their store. If you refer to one of the included images, none of the search results are in my library. If we want to see our local library results, we have to manually select "Show Filter Field" from the View menu. Except "Show Filter Field" is always grayed out. This means I can't search for media that I've already bought elsewhere or ripped from LD, or whatever. I have to buy it each time from the Apple store. LOL No, I kid. I'm sure even Apple isn't that greedy. This is probably a bug.


I realize that I am a smooth-brained plebe who's opinion doesn't amount to much, but I expect Apple software to work better than this. That's my gripe. Please divulge me. In reply, can somebody help me fix this grayed out issue? Thanks.

To be proactive and constructive, use proper English and try to actually help people. For example, you could have said something like, "Sorry, I don't think there is any fix for that in Big Sur, but they did fix it in Monterey. You'll have to upgrade, if you can."


Also, I can verify that this feature is indeed NOT fixed in Monterey since people I know who have it installed run into the same problem. Disabling an offered menu item doesn't sound like a very good "Built-in Feature" that's done "by Design". Sounds like a bug to me. I won't bother reporting it until I give others a chance to reply here. Then I'll just call Apple and have a tech work on it with me. They can report the bug. That's usually how I roll.

The same functionality, as per your above description exists in Apple TV running Monterey version 12.4.


So, based upon this additional information, it doubtful Apple is going to fix that which appears to not be broken but more so a Built-in Feature and by Design.


To be proactive and constructive, suggest the user send along their Feedback directly to Apple


The Apple Support Community Forums are Only Apple Users attempting to assist fellow Apple Users on Apple Technical Issues.


The only part of these Forums that are actually Apple, are Moderators who work behind the scenes to make use all contributors abide by the Rules Governing the Usage of these Apple Hosted Forums.

Perhaps the wording was not clear enough.


What your computer is experiencing on the Apple TV App is also appearing in Monterey Apple TV App


The Apple Support Community Forums are technically used for Only Technical issues surrounding Apple Hardware and Apple Software.


Anything outside of those specific perimeters is basically Off Limits as per the Rules Governing the use of the Forums.
