It also depends on the third party software you may have installed on your Mac. Anti-virus apps, cleaning apps, and third party security software are known to cause these types of issues along with a lot of other problems. To look for possible software issues run EtreCheck and give EtreCheck "Full Disk Access" so that more details are included in the report which may provide more clues. Post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper. If you boot into Safe Mode and the problem disappears, then it is very likely you have some sort of software issue.

You can also try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.

Also try disconnecting all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.

Make sure macOS and all your third party apps are completely up to date as well.

Edit: Sometimes your Mac may just need to be restarted. Sometimes an app may start taking too many resources and rebooting the computer will reset those apps. Just make sure to uncheck "Reopen windows when logging in" on the pop-up which appears when restarting/shutting down the Mac.
