Macbook M1 Pro 14 inch keeps 50 degrees and above when idling

I've been using this laptop for a month, last week it started lagging when i was doing video editing, text jitters when I move the position. I noticed temp is higher when I have all apps closed. I am at 50 degrees, it used to be around 30 degrees idling when I first got this laptop. What should I do to fix, I see the temp with TG Pro. Went to activity monitor to see for any high CPU usage, there is none all using 0.1-0.3 %.

Hi SciencioGT,

It sounds like your Mac is not running as expected. It’s getting warmer than expected and seems to running more slowly than before. We’re glad to address both issues with you.

Keep your Mac laptop within acceptable operating temperatures - Apple Support -- This article explains how to keep your Mac within expected operating temperatures. It also includes an important caveat regarding using a 3rd party app for temperature readings:

If you use third-party apps that measure the temperature of your laptop computer, it’s important to understand that they don't measure the external case temperature. The case temperature is much lower. Never use third-party apps to diagnose possible hardware issues.

As far as your Mac running slower since it was purchased, here are some troubleshooting steps to use:

1. Review If your Mac runs slowly

2. Test in safe mode as it can help you determine whether issues you’re experiencing are caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up. How to use safe mode on your Mac.

      • As it also " It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed." if it doesn't happen when in safe mode, restart your Mac and test again.

3. Create a test user to see if it is something only related to your user account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.

Hope this information helps.

Have a good day.
