software for Macbook pro 2017

I would like to ask if I will be able to update my MacBook Pro's software to a later version such as the MacOS Monterey.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Yes. You can upgrade macOS using the Software Update System Preferences.

Upgrade to macOS Monterey - Official Apple Support


Make sure to have a good backup before attempting to upgrade macOS in case something goes wrong during the upgrade.


You should always have frequent and regular backups of your computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data. It is impossible to recover accidentally deleted data from an SSD after the Trash has been emptied plus an SSD can fail at any time without any warning signs (even a brand new SSD). In addition with the USB-C Macs the SSDs are integrated (aka soldered) onto the Logic Board, so if the Logic Board is not functional, then it will be difficult to impossible to recover data from the SSD since only the 2016/17 model MBPro has a "lifeboat" connector for an AASP to attempt to recover data, but all later models have no method to access the integrated SSD if the Logic Board is not functional since the data on the SSD is hardware encrypted.
