Exiting apps.
I can't swipe up at the bottom of my screen, meaning I can't exit any apps. This is crucial in my use of the phone and has happened out of nowhere. Not sure what to do to fix it. Any ideas?

Do this Force restart iPhone - Apple Support and then try again.

An iPhone 8, as shown in your tag line, has a home button, as such there is no option to swipe from the bottom of the screen. You click the home button once, to exit apps, or twice to access the App switcher and close them entirely.

whoops meant iphone 12 mini. i think it automatically filled in my old phone.
Press volume up shortly, then volume down shortly, then the power button until you see the Apple logo, then try again.
