When I "unsubscribe" from those unsolicited emails that show up, my computer routinely crashes. A moment later, a window appears with a bunch of coded stuff saying it's being reported to Apple and an option to reopen mail. This didn't use to happen. Any ideas to correct this?

I understand Mail is crashing every time you try to unsubscribe from a mailing list.
To be clear, are you using the "Unsubscribe" link that appears near the top of the email message (example below)?

Yes, I am using the "Unsubscribe" links. I've quickly reviewed the Safe Mode processes and will work on this and report back. Thank you so much.
